Trip To Shanghai and my experiences
My Moment

Disappointment filled my mind when it was my last week of summer vacation. In the last three days of the summer vacation, I had have been spending my time in Shanghai. After the third day I would go back to the United States and become seventh grade student.  I went with my mom, aunt and cousin. We stayed at my cousin’s aunt’s house.

The first night we looked at the night view of PuDong and Dong fang Ming Zhu. I was so surprised when I saw the night view of the huge TV tower and even saw a Haagen- Das ice cream store not far from the tower.  That first night shocked me. It made me think of a brand new city that just came out. That night I could hear music and college students enjoying themselves.  That night was when I really enjoyed myself.

As I step in I could feel a fresh start for China’s long history. I saw people all around looking at the tower like a three-year child looking at a new book. I was even more amazed when I entered T .V. tower. I said to my mom that, “ This was amazing because it was such a magnificent tower that China built. Inside was an elevator that had buttons that went from 200 to 290 meters. (That could compare with the Empire State building, but very good looking.) The elevator went pretty fast, but my ears were popping because of the high altitude. Not only fast, but also very steady when in motion.  As we exit the elevator, my cousin said, “My ears are still popping. It is really annoying.”

Her mom replied, “You could always swallow your saliva to make it stop.”

She did that and it actually worked. She did it after me because she’s younger and didn’t know about.

First I looked around and saw that every section of the windows was marked with a city and how far it is from the tower. (In km) For example Beijing is about 2000 km away. The measurements are pretty accurate, but some are estimation. I find this building better than the Empire State Building, but not as good as the Twin Towers. After we finish taking pictures we will be going to go to the second ball that is smaller, but higher in altitude than the first ball. It was engineered just like the first ball, but there wasn’t any measurement on the windows of the Dong Fang Ming Zhu. . The second ball was had awesome views of surrounding buildings.  When you are looking outside you can see the unfinished World Financial Center. The building will be larger than Jin Mao.

At about 300 meters was the third ball that was the smallest, but it had a second floor. The second floor was almost as high as the unfinished World Financial Center. The Dong Fang Ming Zhu was also as tall as the Jin Mao. At the third ball, I went into a bathroom that was cleaner than any bathrooms I ever seen.   After the third ball we went down to 90 meters because of the indoor roller coaster and space exhibit.  The space exhibit teaches students and parents   about outer space.

After the indoor roller coaster ride, I felt that it was comparable to Space Mountain in Disney World. It was comparable because of the fast speed and the way it goes up, down, and tilts to one side then to another. That was the best part of the Dong Fang Ming Zhu TV tower.

My excitement continued when I ate one of Shanghai’s Egg Tarts. That egg tart was the most delicious dessert in the whole world.  If you taste it, you will finish it in seconds.

As we moved closer to noon, we advanced on to the bottom floor museum of Dong Fang Ming Zhu. We traveled to the ground zero in a 360-degree elevator where you have instant view from every angle.  You can even see the things going on outside as the elevator quickly go down. The floor of the elevator is made of glass, so you can look down as well.

The Museum was about Shanghai history and Industry’s productions. It shows all about Shanghai’s automobiles to the attack on the harbor by England. From that attack in the harbor, the gate that sealed off China from the rest of the world was gone. The museum also shows a very creative way of teaching. There was a show that shows people how Shanghai people speak, live, and learn. The show itself is only a projection of people that can move around. (It was not a movie) The Museum shows how England changed China’s Judiciary powers by having a court of different people with their own perspectives and ideas. So that attack helped China a lot with its industry and developments of food, clothing, technology, and automobiles.  Now I understand that without foreign countries helping China, China wouldn’t be as close as successful as America.

I will remember that forever and ever because of its impact on China. Our next stop was Shanghai Natural History Museum, where I learned even more through audio tours.
