One of the most important blog entry of my blog by Henggao
Hey everyone
I am raising money for Unicef or the United Nations Children's emergency fund. This organization helps needy children in African countries like Sudan. If you are not familar of how it works,
6 cents helps a child buy water
2 dollars helps provide nutrition for one kid
$44 provides school supplies for 20 kids
$112 helps buy emergency blankets for 37 kids
$200 helps provide 550 kids with immunization against measles
Please help us to raise money for Unicef
 Thank you from
Carly Stern Ceo of Unicef

Reader's Chair preparation by Henggao Cai
The Beekeeper’s Apprentice By Laurie R. KingMystery and Fictional 394 Pages        It was the year 1915, Sherlock Holmes is retired. He has moved from Baker street London to the countryside. Mr. Holmes is quietly engaged in his honeybee research. Then the beekeeper stumbles upon an apprentice.         Sherlock Holmes was watching honeybees on his usual stroll while a 15 year old girl literally stumbles upon him. It was then Mr. Holmes realized that she had enough intellect to match him wit to wit.        In this 394 page novel, former detective Sherlock Holmes and his interim Mary Russell solve cases as a team like the old days. This time in The Beekeeper’s Apprentice By Laurie R. King, Mr. Holmes has a smarter sidekick then Dr. Watson.        Ms. Russell will never forget the day Sherlock Holmes asked her for tea at his place. That was the start of her apprenticeship. Mary Russell conducted experiments and looked for clues. She even solved her first case with a dog named Justinian. Justinian has a very powerful nose. That nose sniffed out the stolen hams. That was only the beginning case of many cases. One of the harder mysteries Ms. Russell and Mr. Sherlock Holmes had to figure out was American Senator Jonathon Simpson‘s daughter kidnapping in Wales.        Sherlock Holmes made an ingenious plan without getting the girl killed. Ms. Russell and Sherlock Holmes will get themselves arrested and they will be put in front of the person in charge of the case. Then they would remove the disguise and listen to Jonathan Simpson and his wife tell the story.        Mary Russell, serving as Holmes’s assistant, found out that the girl is named Jessica and she got abducted from the tent the Simpson’s were sleeping in.        Will they solve the case of the Simpson daughter kidnapping?

Recommendation       My recommendation for The Beekeeper’s Apprentice by Laurie R. King is that this book is pure excitement. This novel is suspenseful because in the Senator’s daughter kidnapped case, I started wondering what was going to be happen next.        This novel enriched my life because it tells me that life holds excitement, danger, and adventure. I explored that adventure along side Sherlock Holmes and Mary Russell. This adventure also taught me that you just have to explore life’s mysteries and adventures. Sherlock Holmes certainly will be the most thrilled person in the world to have an adventure like that, but humans also need to be enthusiastic about life and its adventures. Humans also can explore these adventures by picking up a book.

september timed writing
September Timed Writing        What if you invented a time machine that can travel to the distant future? What time period would you go? What would you do there? What if your time machine got stolen? To get some ideas, read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. The Time Machine began with the Time Traveler busy working on a big project in his 19th century English laboratory. His project was the time machine. The time machine allowed the Time Traveler to travel through space and time. “The time machine follows the principles of the fourth dimension,” as the Time traveler explained to a bunch of people. His guests were staring blankly at the time traveler. They were all dumbfounded by his last sentence because they did not believe it. The Time Traveler showed his guest his miniature time machine. The replicated time machine zoomed through time, but still many questions lingered.  All his guests thought it was a trick, even though they saw the time machine disappeared.Few days after the meeting, the Time Traveler secretly traveled through time in his time machine. He went to the Phoenician period or the year 802, 700. (The year was displayed on his time machine.) The time traveler realized that he was in the Phoenician period right after he stepped into a home with the old Phoenician decoration.  The decoration included the richly carved doorway arch and the soft colored robes. Scientifically the time machine does not exist, but this is a sci-fi novel. Anything can happen in this story. The lesson in this story is that the world is full of mysteries and adventure and what H.G. Wells wrote could happen any time in our world. NASA might even have a time travelling formula, but has never released it to the public. This novel is more than just a story; it’s an adventure to be explored. I have explored that journey with the time traveler. Back in time, the Time traveler found more adventure than he realized. He gained hate, love and strength. He lost his time machine, but found a friend named Weena. She helped him find the courage he needed to fight the morlocks. He fought the morlocks to get his time machine back and to make sure Weena’s death was not in vain. This novel was my favorite this summer because it has the adventure I needed. It brought back my interest in reading more books. I know more people will enjoy this novel, as much as I do.
