            Murder, stealing, and identity theft are what Detective Harold McMurpy investigates. Harold McMurpy is the top-notch detective in England. He was descended from Sherlock Holmes.  Sherlock Holmes was also the best detective in England.



Later this very week a mysterious letter arrived at detective McMurpy residence of Baker’s Avenue. It said our Lady Elizabeth was in trouble. Harold arrived at the castle with his assistant Arnold Swartz. They arrived to interview Lady Elizabeth.  It seems that an intruder arrived and stole her priceless items. These items included her late husband’s urn, her ring, her credit card, and her necklace. Harold asked her questions like,   “how did you know the intruder came in.” She said, “ the alarm rang off and the maid saw the black suited thief walking away.”



When she talked to the maid about what happened at the incident, the ransom came. The ransom came with a fine of  $5000 dollars. Lady Elizabeth found her social security number stolen. Harold and Arnold patrolled the mansion everyday and night.  One day when Arnold was patrolling the north side of the mansion, someone shot him in the leg. Harold quickly ran as fast as possible. He got Arnold to the hospital. After Arnold had recovered.  He was still at the hospital for a check up.  Harold asked questions like, “what does the thief look like.”



Arnold replied, “The Thief had a goatee, bald head, and a gun in hand.” Harold went and sat at his normal desk at Baker’s Avenue going over the evidence. Harold went back to Lady Elizabeth’s residence and found more than one hair samples. He went to Scotland Yards to get the hair identified, but it turned out to be Arnold’s own hair.



            A month later, a strange package arrived at Baker’s avenue. Harold examined the package of candy and old newspapers. The sender wrote, “ I know you from the past.” Harold thought while looking through old photographs. Then a familiar knock came at the door. It was Arnold back from the hospital. Arnold asked in a horse tone, “ Harold, I want to tell you that the theft and murder is from a gang.” “The gang wants money, they want to steal from the heir of Queen Elizabeth.” 



Then Harold rushed out the door and ran to Lady Elizabeth’s residence again. He asked Lady Elizabeth if she knew any English gangs. Lady Elizabeth said, “ Yes the only one I know is called the Los Bandits de la Muertos.”



Harold said, “ are their hideouts or where do they meet normally.”



Elizabeth’s expression told Harold that she didn’t know. Harold took the train to Scotland yards to ask about the profile of the Los Bandits des la Muertos. Scotland Yards gave them information like they hang out in London and Scotland. Key information was that their leader was a bald guy with goatee named Samuel Cardenas. He than thought the authorities could watch every night in Scotland and London for Samuel Cardenas. Harold asked the authorities of London and Scotland, but they said no because it will cause too much money for more work.



            Months went by and Lady Elizabeth lost all her identifications to Samuel Cardenas. Lady Elizabeth told Arnold and Harold that she went to the bank and her debt card was stuck. So another guy inserted a transparent card inside. She got her debt card back, but the card numbers disappeared. She asked the banker why it disappeared, but they thought she was a theft. Arnold and Harold than rescued her from jail. Arnold questioned her and said, “ We will hire secure you where ever you go.”  She went to the Bank another time and found there wasn’t any money left. Harold was then clueless about what happened.



Arnold and Harold both brought handguns to sting the thief. Arnold guarded the outside of the mansion, while Harold guarded the inside to protect Lady Elizabeth.  Arnold spotted a hooded figure heading toward the back door. Harold turned on the surveillance camera at the back door. As the thief moved closer, Harold trapped the thief with a steel cage. Another gang member went in and kidnapped Lady Elizabeth. Harold tried to save her, but the other gang members surrounded him and Arnold. Police Officer Jon O’Brien arrived as soon as possible. He and his crew worked day and night interviewing witnesses. He collected evidence like fingerprints and hair samples. He said that it would take him at least four months to find Lady Elizabeth. As time got closer he called American force, the CIA. The CIA went and immediately got everything in two hours. They worked so fast that when another ransom came they just listened and asked for the meeting place. They asked for a ransom of 1,000,000 dollars. They went and took money from their secret ransom account to save Lady Elizabeth.  As they found the address they found out there was a bomb in the building. CIA agents traced the call again and have FBI and Scotland Yards to help. By the following week they caught all members except the leader. The leader had Lady Elizabeth until the fair lady escaped and helped capture the leader. They recovered the precious items, her money, her debt card, and her social security cards.  As the investigation was done Lady Elizabeth paid CIA, FBI, and Scotland Yards. She awarded Harold and Arnold medals for their contributions as well.    



“That’s the end of that children,” compiled Harold McMurpy as he was telling his grandchildren’s his greatest investigation. As Harold’s son and daughter picked up their children from Baker’s Avenue. Both his son and daughter are detectives and they are also known as Sherlock and Shirley McMurpy. Their investigations are around the seven continents. Finding the Origin of the Declaration of Independence

  


When writing the Declaration of Independence, the Founding Fathers were influenced by their English Heritage and colonial experience.  The Declaration of Independence is the oldest document in the United States of America. The Declaration of Independence laid the foundation of our country. You might have read these document many times, but do you know the origin of these documents?


Several documents from England were directly linked to the Declaration of Independence.  Those documents are, the Magna Carta, the Petition of Rights, and the Declaration of Rights.Magna Carta is thus the oldest documents in England and the first document that went against Monarchy in England. This brilliant document brought a limit to the king’s power and you will learn how they tied with the Declaration of Independence. The story of the Magna Carta starts with King John.      It was the 15th of June 1215 when the Magna Carta was put into order.  On that day, Parliament forced King John to sign the Magna Carta or the great charter. King John was a tyrant and ineffective ruler. He ignored the customs of Feudalism; He raised taxes without consent; He had courts decide cases by his opinion. To limit his power, the archbishop of Canterbury wrote the Magna Carta. But John refused to sign twice. Under huge pressure from the Barons, John signed it with all the rights he had to follow. All the rights they wrote in the Magna Carta were the things he did wrong. King John placed himself and England's future sovereigns and magistrates within the rule of law. Those include trial by jury, independent courts, protection from unnecessary searches, loss of life and loss of property. From June 15,1215, all the monarchs had to follow all these laws, otherwise would be beheaded.


Among these rights that the Founding Fathers got from the Magna Carta were used in the Declaration of Independence. Trial by Jury in the Declaration of Independence said, “For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury.”



  It also stated Independent courts as, “He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.”



These laws were created because to protect the country from tyrant kings like John in the United States.


Another important document of England called the Petition of Rights 1628 added more rules to the Magna Carta: Taxes must be collected by Parliament; no housing of troops; no imprisonment without trial; and the king must obey all laws. The Declaration of Rights greatly affected the Founders when they drafted the Declaration of Independence. Here are some examples.


In the Declaration of Independence, no housing of troops was stated as, “ For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us.”



In 1689, English Parliament passed the English Bill of Right. This document officially rendered England a constitutional monarchy where Parliament, not the king, made the laws, levied the taxes, and maintained the army. It stated everything king James II did wrong. “He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.” “He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.”



New rights were instituted in the Bill of Right, e.g., right of free elections, speedy trials, no unfair bail, petitioning the king, no unusual punishment, keeping army at peace, and keeping and carrying weapons. Most of these rights were restated the Declaration of Independence



Philosophers also had an important role on the Declaration of Independence. Those Philosophers include Voltaire, John Locke, and other important people through out history.



Besides the ancient documents from England, some Philosophers also had influence on the Declaration of Independence. John Locke was the person that had the greatest influence on the Declaration of Independence. He wrote and researched about Natural Rights. Natural rights are rights that can never be taken away from any person. In the Declaration of Independence it says, “We hold these truths to be self- evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Indeed, Thomas Jefferson got this statement from George Mason. George Mason then got that quote from John Locke.


Locke created natural rights and wrote many quotes on America. He also visited America and commented on America itself, its government, and civil society.  He said,  “In the beginning all the world was America.” He talked about our government, “ The great and chief end, therefore, of men’s uniting into commonwealths and putting themselves under government, is the preservation of their property.” Locke said this about civil society, "Men being, as has been said, by Nature, all free, equal and independent, no one can be put out of this Estate, and subjected to the Political Power of another, without his own Consent. The only way whereby any one divests himself of his Natural Liberty, and puts on the bonds of Civil Society is by agreeing with other Men to joyn and unite into a Community . . ..”.When creating the Declaration of Independence what colonial experiences did the Founder Fathers use? They used important documents such as the Mayflower Compact, The Royal Proclamation, and The Resolutions of the Continental Congress, The Articles of Association, and The Virginia Declaration of Independence.


 Jefferson used the Virginia Declaration of Independence created by George Mason because Mason was the first to write a declaration.  Here is an example, “That all men are by nature equally free and independent and have certain inherent rights, of which, when they enter into a state of society, they cannot, by any compact, deprive or divest their posterity; namely, the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety.”


 


Jefferson wrote about how King George the III were taxing us without consent. He wrote, “For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.”



As colonists we showed our hatred at the harbor when we dumped their tea. We made sure that got to King George III.


 


The Boston tea Party connected to the Declaration of Independence because Thomas Jefferson specifically said that, “He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.”



            When creating the Declaration of Independence, our founding Fathers were influenced by their English heritage and colonial experience. Great leaders and philosophers also influenced our founding Fathers. “We are endowed by certain unalienable rights that among these are life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”   The Magna Carta was the first start to the Declaration of Independence, the Petition of rights, and then the English Bill of Rights.  Benefited from the protection that they instituted among us by having Juries and National guards.

Shanghai Experience

My Moment



            Disappointment filled my mind when it was my last week of summer. In my last three days I’m going be spending my time in Shanghai. After the third day I will be in the United States. I’m going to be in seventh grade.  I went with my mom, aunt and cousin. We will be staying at my cousin’s aunt’s house.



            The first night I will be looking at the night view of PuDong and Dong fang Ming Zhu. I was so surprised when I found out that I was going to be in the big TV tower and that there was a Haagen Das, ice cream store, in China. That was only the start of my surprises. Another one was that Shanghai was the only city in China that had toilet paper in public bathrooms!



            In the Dong Fang Ming Zhu the bathrooms were cleaner than the ones in New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco.  Slowly as was climbing the steps of the T .V. tower entrance I was amazed that China could build something that could compare with foreign city towers.  Inside was an elevator that had bottoms that went from 200 to 290 meters. (That could compare with the Empire State building, but very good looking.) The elevator went pretty fast, but my ears were popping because of the high altitude. As we exit the elevator, my cousin said, “My ears are still popping. It is really annoying.”



Her mom then replied, “You could always swallow your saliva to make it stop.”



She did that and it actually worked. She did it after me because she’s younger and doesn’t know about.



            First I looked around and saw that every glass was marked a city and how far it is from the tower. (In km) For example Beijing is about 2000 km away. The measurements are pretty accurate, but they are just estimation as well. I find this building better than the Empire State Building, but not as good as the Twin Towers. After we finish taking pictures we’re going to go to the second ball that is smaller, but higher in altitude than the first ball. It was engineered just like the first ball, but there wasn’t any measurement. The second ball was great because you can see the largest building in the world under construction. The building will be larger than Jin Mao.



            At about 300 meters was the third ball that was the smallest, but it had a second floor. The second floor was almost as high as the unfinished world Financial Center. It was also taller than the Jin Mao.  After the third ball we went down to 90 meters because of the indoor roller coaster and space exhibit. . The space exhibit teaches students and parents   about outer space.



             After the indoor roller coaster ride, I felt that it was comparable to Space Mountain in Disney World. It was comparable because of the fast speed and the way it goes up, down, and tilts. This was the best part of the Dong Fang Ming Zhu TV tower.



            My excitement continues when I ate one of Shanghai’s Egg Tarts. That egg tart is for everyone to try. I ate one in a matter of seconds. It was that delicious.



            As we move closer to noon, we advance on to the bottom floor museum of Dong Fang Ming Zhu. We traveled to the ground zero in a 360 degree elevator where you have instant view from every angle.



            The Museum was about Shanghai history and Industries. It shows all about Shanghai’s automobiles to the attack on the harbor by England. From that attack in the harbor, the gate that sealed off China from the rest of the world was gone. The museum also shows a very creative way of teaching. There was a show that shows people how Shanghai people how they live, but it’s only a projection of people that can move around. (It was not a movie) That projection shows how Shanghai people speak, live, and learn. The Museum shows how England changed China’s Judiciary powers by having a court of different people and their perspectives and ideas. So that attack helped China a lot with its industry and developments of food, clothing, technology, and automobiles.  Now I understand that without foreign countries helping China, China wouldn’t be as successful as America.



            I will remember that forever and ever because of its impact on China. Our next stop is Shanghai Natural History Museum. That is where I will learn even more through audio tours.

New Mayor

          I am the mayor of the new town that has been established by the government of New Jersey. I will collect tax to build schools, pave roads, build hospitals, and construct homes. This tax money will be put to good use by the township board and myself. As the mayor there are also libraries to be built and township offices including: a post office and the Lion Club.  We also want to make the town Tree City USA. This town will become united as one as many towns are.


  


          I will name this town West Warwick, New Jersey. West Warwick will the Tree City USA away from West Windsor and become the best town in the US. This town will host a Lion Clubs meeting and UNCIEF meetings to help Africa. As Mayor Gao I will do my best to support their fundraising efforts to help the poorest continents. I will also make comments on their ideas.


            The schools must be built. We start with one school and then build more. We could combine towns together like West Windsor and Plainsboro to make on district with 9 schools and 4 million children. We may have to build 10 schools if we combine the towns together. The more mega homes, apartments, and townhouses go up, the more children will live in West Warwick.              The schools also need roads for school bus, cars, trucks, and moving vans to move in. The budget may not have enough money for this town, so we need to ask the government for money to build the roads.  The roads are a top priority because of moving trucks. As mayor I will help get more money for the roads. If not I will build the schools, homes, hospitals, libraries, a post office, a township office, and a Lion’s Club headquarters and in the mean time We will put temporary roads to pave later.             I will make sure that I build one of the best hospitals in New Jersey with good nurses and doctors. The doctors will get a good paycheck.  The more respect people like the mayor give him, the better they’ll work. The faster the doctors work, the faster the citizens will heal.  As mayor I want to improve the technology in hospitals.            The security of homes will improve. Security for my citizens is very important. This is there town and I want them to feel          safe. I want them to feel comfortable in my town. They also need to feel protective.                     Libraries are where my citizens of West Warwick can read books and relax. They will all get a library card with 50 checkouts. There are 4 million selections of books. The library is a 3-floor building with Internet connection. The post office will be right next to the library. The post office can mail to anywhere in the world.            The Township Office is where I, the mayor work and several other high administrators. The taxes are sorted here, along with paychecks and road pavements. The accountants solve financial problems. The taxes aren’t too much and we need a lot of money problems for roads.           Taking care of a new town isn’t as easy as many think. As mayor I plan referendums and organized roads. I also have to meet the principals of every school and the superintents of the school district. Not only do I have cut the ribbons at grand openings. I also have to meet the high administers of the school. Meeting the fire chief, the police chief, and the FBI if anything went wrong with any section including the schools. Being a new mayor is fun, but I also need to keep my popularity.
